On Saturday, 23 September 2017 the RFPL Foundation celebrated National Hispanic Heritage Month with a program of classical music composed exclusively by Latin American composers.
Library patrons were invited to enjoy compositions by Latin American composers Ginestera, Guastavino, de Falla, and Piazolla performed by Dr. Daniel Gasse (cello) and Ms. Hulya Alpakin-Luethi (piano).
Dr. Gasse, a native of Argentina, received a Professor de Violoncello degree from the Concervatorio Provincal de Musica de la Provincia de Cordoba, Argentina, a Master in Music, and a Doctorate in Musical Arts with a major in Cello Performance and minor in Music Education from the University of Illinois. Dr. Gasse is Co-Founder of the Gasse School of Music.
Hülya Alpakin-Luethi, a native of Turkey, holds a Bachelor Degree in piano from Istanbul State Conservatoire, a Master’s Degree in piano performance, and an Artist Diploma, both from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Since 1992 she has performed internationally as soloist, as a part of ensembles, and as an accompanist.
